Richmond Women’s Resource Centre helps women with resources, agency referrals, links, support groups, workshops, projects, programs, and volunteering opportunities.

We are a long-standing and vibrant community network of women of all ages living in Richmond. Our goal is to provide community-based resource options to help women build connections and thrive in their community. Through a supportive environment, we encourage women to empower themselves and enhance their lives through our training programs, peer support groups and community partnerships.

The Richmond Women’s Resource Centre was formed in 1976 and became a non-profit association with Charitable Tax Status in 1989.

The location of the Centre has varied over the years – from basements, church halls, and trailers, to three different city-owned houses. In 1994, along with approximately twenty other agencies, we moved into the Caring Place.

Thank you to our generous funders:

VOICES

The Centre’s tranquility and silence brings comfort to the troubled heart of a woman. Every moment in the Centre is an opportunity for learning. Our instructors were generous in imparting their knowledge not only with communication skills, job search tools and techniques but as well as with some facts about the Canadian culture. With all the skills I obtained, I am regaining my confidence. I am hopeful that the right opportunity will come in due time. And when it happens, I know that I am prepared.

Mariza

RWRC is like a family – a home away from home for all women.

Carolyn

Since I became a member, the women of this organization have taken steps with me and have never hesitated to offer a helping hand. Their courage has inspired me to join their circle and share in the feeling of cherishing others and being cherished in return.

Sara

Volunteering at RWRC teaches me something new about people in different cultures, about RWRC services for women; about compassion and about myself. In helping others, I am reminded that we are all in this together we need to remember to support each other.

Priyani

I came to Vancouver three years ago. As a newcomer, integrating into society was a vexing question for me. Luckily, I found RWRC and became a tax volunteer. [This] experience has helped me overcome the fear of rejection and boosted my confidence in this new environment. Through helping others, I now feel like a part of this community.

Catherine

As a woman, I believe it is in our nature to nurture and give, especially towards our children and family. It is part of who we are. I have been out of the workforce for over 13 years raising my children, but the Work Ready Program has prepared me for the challenge of finding a job. I appreciate all the support and help the center has given me, volunteering is my way of supporting other women like me.

Linda
